Testimonials

"Maria-Teresa Grant was one of the finest natural art historians that I have ever had the pleasure to teach."

Professor Anne Crookshank
Founder of the History of Art Department
Trinity College, Dublin University

'Maria-Teresa Grant is a very fine art historian, with a deep knowledge of European history and a passion for the cities of Italy and her native British Isles.  She is an expert communicator and a delightful, informed companion in galleries, churches, cultural buildings and historic city centres.  Highly recommended.'

Dr David Bomford, formerly Associate Director, Getty Museum, Los Angeles

'Maria-Teresa carefully tailors the daily excursions in Rome to her clients' interests and expertise.  She includes famous locations such as the Colosseum and the Vatican, alongside equally fascinating but less well-known monuments like the Roman city walls and the Mamertime prison where the Gaulish Chieftain Vercingetorix was incarcerated.'

Dr Jessica Cooke, Medievalist, National University of Ireland, Galway

'She was inspirational, truly bringing all of the artworks to life for us, not only informing about context and key details but also providing fascinating observations and facts that you could tell only a specialist would know.  Her infectious enthusiasm ensured this was the highlight of our London visit.'

Duncan Cope

'Maria-Teresa is an intelligent and witty guide, immersed in the architectural and artistic life of London.  I have lived in London for many decades and came away from each tour knowing something new.'

FAQs

What group size do you cater for?

I prefer to take a small group of between 1 - 6 people because I want my clients to feel they have had a personal experience and have the opportunity to ask questions and explore the art and architecture on their own terms. Private tours are my area of expertise.

Do you do street art tours?

Although central London and east London has some of the world's finest street art by the likes of Banksy, this is not my area of expertise. Of course, a morning or afternoon tour could be arranged, after which your small group could independently explore the London street art scene and meet some of the locals.

Can you tailor tours in London to specific sights and landmarks?

I can certainly act as a tour guide for visitors to any historic buildings of interest in London, such as Buckingham palace, Tower Bridge or to discover some of the finest houses in the city (the Duke of Wellington's house for example, which is known as number 1 London).

Do you do bike tours in London?

I offer a comprehensive walking tour in the city, or city tours by car but not bike tours.

Do you offer free cancellation?

Free cancellation would only be offered if made a month prior to the tour.

Can we take photos in the museums?

In most London museums and galleries you can do so without using a flash.

Do you organise entrance tickets?

My clients purchase their own tickets on the day or prior. If you would like advice on which museums for which tickets are needed, then I will of course assist.

How many London sights could my friends and I see in a day?

For walking tours, one could take in many London sights in central London in a whole day. However, certain museums such as the British Museum, require more time devoted to them, given the size of the collection.

Can you conduct London tours at night?

London is a beautiful city to drive through at night, looking at buildings such as the Houses of Parliament and of course the London bridges, which are now all illuminated at night.

Where are most London museums situated?

Most of the most significant London museums and galleries are in central London, but there are of course many other museums throughout the city, such as the Whitechapel Gallery in east London.
